KYTC single-bid awards: June 2022
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) awarded 35 single-bid contracts totaling $19,428,245 during their June bid letting.
Thirty-two of the single-bid awards in June were asphalt-related, totaling $18,280,768. Twenty of the asphalt-related single-bid awards exceeded the cabinet engineer’s estimates. The asphalt-related bids ranged between 75.1% - 111.3% of the cabinet’s estimates.
Here is an overview of the asphalt-related single-bid awards in June by company:
Mountain Enterprises: 6 single-bid contracts totaling $2,929,385. The company’s bids ranged between 94.3% - 109.5% of KYTC’s internal estimates.
Scotty’s Contracting: 7 single-bid contracts totaling $2,873,964. The company’s largest award was $1,160,444 for 8.4 miles of asphalt resurfacing on KY 176 in Muhlenberg County.
Eaton Asphalt: 5 single-bid contracts totaling $2,154,711. Four of the five awards exceeded the Cabinet engineer’s estimates. All five projects were located in Boone and Kenton counties.
Mago Construction: 2 single-bid contacts totaling $3,033,030, both for asphalt resurfacing projects in Breckinridge County.
Rogers Group: 2 single-bid contracts totaling $1,782,425. The company’s bid for 4.2 miles of asphalt resurfacing in Christian County exceeded the cabinet engineer’s estimate by $160,187.52
Hinkle Contracting: 4 single-bid contracts totaling $1,527,585. Hinkle secured a $159,923 for 0.75 miles of asphalt resurfacing in Harrison County. Their bid was 105.4% of KYTC’s estimate for the project.
Yager Materials: 2 single-bid contracts totaling $2,105,371. Both were asphalt resurfacing projects in Daviess County and both successful bids were less than the engineer’s estimates.
Jim Smith Contracting: 2 single-bid contracts totaling $431,563.
The following road contractors secured one single-bid asphalt-related contract in June: H.G. Mays Corp. ($135,078) & The Allen Co. ($1,307,652). The Allen Company’s single-bid award was for 2.3 miles of asphalt resurfacing on KY 374 in Madison County — 104.3% of KYTC’s estimate.
KYTC rejected 21 single-bid offers from Kentucky’s highway industry in June. Those unsuccessful bids ranged between 111.02% to 157.3% of the cabinet’s internal estimates.
